Workshop for Preparation of Design Guideline for Underground Structures in Rock Mass
Over the past 30 years, Singapore has developed various underground structures in the field of rock engineering, and the demand for deeper underground spaces will likely increase in the future due to land constraints. Aside from a few specialised projects, like the Jurong Rock Cavern project, the engineering practices and design approaches related to rock mechanics in most Singaporean project still fall short of international standards. As a result, there is a growing need for widely accepted rock engineering practices and design methods to ensure the efficient and appropriate development of underground works in rock formations.
SRMEG will be holding Workshop on 22 May 2025 from 4pm to 6pm Singapore Management University to:
- Share current situation and problems of rock engineering in Singapore
- Discuss how to improve the design and engineering practice of rock mechanics in Singapore
- Discuss how to set up the working group for preparation of the guideline
