Prof. ZHAO Zhiye

Dr Zhao Zhiye is an Associate Professor from the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering, Nanyang Technology University, Singapore, and is currently the Director of the Nanyang Centre for Underground Space, NTU.
Dr Zhao is a member of the editorial board of: Int. J. of Tunnelling and Underground Space Technology and Int. J. of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. He was elected as the President of the Society for Rock Mechanics & Engineering Geology Singapore since March 2013.

Dr. Oskar SIGL

Dr. Sigl graduated as Diploma Engineer (MSc) 1985 from Technical University of Graz (Austria), in Civil Engineering specializing in geotechnics and soil mechanics. In 1991, after working for five years as Teaching Assistant at the Institute for Geomechanics and Tunnelling, he achieved with distinction the PhD in mining engineering at the Mining University of Leoben (Austria).

In addition to the registration as ordinary Professional Engineer (PE-Civil), Dr. Sigl is also registered with the Professional Engineer Board of Singapore as specialized Professional Engineer (PE-Geo) and specialized Accredited Checker (AC-Geo).

Dr. Sigl was involved in the design of major underground structures in a great number of projects, and more than 30 years of experience, these projects cover a large variety such as subways, railways, roads, power transmission cables, sewerage mains, underground storage schemes and caverns.

Since his arrival in Singapore in 1997, Dr. Sigl has been involved in the detailed design of almost all major infra structure projects in Singapore including the North East Line, Circle Line and Downtown Line MRTs, the high voltage transmission cable tunnel project, the Kallang Paya Lebar and Marine Costal Expressways, the DTSS Project, and many more. Dr. Sigl is the Managing Director of GEOCONSULT Asia Singapore since 1998.

Dr. WU Wei

Dr Wu Wei is an Assistant Professor from School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He received his PhD degree in rock mechanics from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. Prior to joining NTU, he worked as a Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford University, USA.
Dr Wu’s research interests lie in rock mechanics and rock engineering, with emphasis on rock dynamics, fault mechanics, reservoir geomechanics and underground space development. He has co-authored more than 40 publications in journals and conferences. In 2013, he awarded the Fellowship for Prospective Researchers in Switzerland.

Hon. Treasurer:

Mr. TEO Tiong Yong

Teo Tiong Yong is the Director of Public Projects Division of JTC Corporation.

In his current role, he oversees the development of building and infrastructure projects for most public agencies. In addition, he continued to play the role of an underground caverns domain specialist to advise and add value to other potential JTC’s underground projects.
He is a Singapore Registered Professional Engineer. 


Dr. LEE Young Zoo

Dr. Lee Young Zoo has experiences as a contractor, consultant and researcher in Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Austria, India and other countries for more than 21 years for various types of underground structures such as transport tunnel, oil storage cavern, utility tunnel and etc.
He is currently working for Geoconsult Asia Singapore Pte. Ltd. in Singapore as a principal engineer since 2011. He is a committee member of the Society of Rock Mechanics & Engineering Geology Singapore.


Dr. LI Guojun

Dr Li Guojun is currently a geotechnical consultant. He is a registered professional engineer and also a specialist professional engineer in geotechnical engineering. He obtained his bachelor of engineering degree in 1990 from China and Ph.D in 2002 from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. His major areas of interest are hydro-geology, deep excavation, tunnelling, ground settlement, soil improvement, deep foundations, ground instrumentation and monitoring, land reclamation and soil-structure interaction problems.

  Mr. ONG Huei Luen

Ong Huei Luen completed his post graduate in Engineering Geology, University of Leeds, UK in 2010 and has been working on engineering geology and rock engineering projects since 2002 in Defense Science & Technology Agency and JTC Corporation. Projects included the Underground Ammunition Facility and the Jurong Rock Caverns.
He has worked on Geology of Singapore 2nd Edition that was published in 2008 by DSTA and currently a guest lecturer in NTU teaching Engineering Geology. He has also served as the Honorary Treasurer for SRMEG in the term between 2013-2017.

Mr. U Kar Winn

Kar Winn is currently working as Senior Project Manager with Geomotion (Singapore) Pte Ltd.

He is currently an elected President (2016-2017 term) of Myanmar Geologists Society Singapore. He is a professional Geologist of American Institution of Professional Geologists, Chartered Geologist of Geological Society of London and European Geologist of the Federation of Geologists, Belgium. He is an associate editor of The Professional Geologist Magazine of AIPG.    

  Dr. ZHOU Yingxin

Dr. Zhou is Head Engineering (Underground Facilities) with the Defence Science & Technology Agency, and Adjunct Assoc Professor (Adj) at the Nanyang Technological University. He played a key role in the pioneering Underground Ammunition Facility by DSTA and has been involved in several national initiatives in underground space use. He was founding president of SRMEG, and served as Vice President (Asia) of the ISRM. He is a member of the Board of the Associated research Centers for the Urban Underground Space, member of the Advisory Board of the International Tunnelling Association Committee on Underground Space, and a member of the Editorial Board for the International Journal of Tunnelling & Underground Space Technology.
